Compliance Hub

Compliance Hub

Welcome to the Bookvault Compliance Hub. Here you’ll find all the information you need about regulations such as EUDR, GSPR, and other legal requirements for authors and publishers.

From December 2024, the EU General Product Safety Regulation (GPSR) applies to all consumer products sold within the EU, including books. While books are considered low risk, the regulation still requires that every product placed on the EU market meets certain traceability and safety standards.

At Bookvault, we’ve taken steps to ensure our operations meet these new requirements. For EU orders, Bookvault acts as the responsible party to help you remain compliant. Each product includes the necessary identification information, such as manufacturer details, ISBN, and print traceability.

For authors and publishers, this means that when you print and distribute your books through Bookvault, you can be confident they are compliant with GPSR obligations. We maintain all necessary documentation and risk assessments to ensure the continued safety and transparency of the products we manufacture.

The EU Deforestation Regulation (EUDR) has been introduced to prevent products linked to deforestation or forest degradation from entering the EU market. For the publishing industry, this means that all paper and board materials used in book production must come from verified, sustainable sources.

At Bookvault, environmental responsibility has always been central to our production process. Our paper suppliers are certified by sustainable forestry programs, ensuring that every sheet we print on meets the strict standards set out by the EUDR. We work closely with our supply chain to maintain full traceability for all materials used in our books.

By printing with Bookvault, you can be confident that your titles meet the EU’s environmental and ethical standards, without needing to manage the compliance process yourself.

When selling books internationally, it’s important to understand how different tax systems may apply to your orders. Bookvault’s systems are designed to make this as simple as possible.

We handle printing and fulfilment from multiple locations, applying the correct tax rules for each region based on where your orders are produced and shipped. For example, EU VAT, UK VAT, and relevant sales taxes are automatically calculated during checkout on direct orders.

If you use Bookvault integrations with eCommerce platforms such as Shopify or WooCommerce, you can configure your tax settings to ensure compliance in each market you sell to. Our team can provide guidance to help you set this up correctly, so you remain compliant with local tax laws wherever your books are sold.
