- Since our last update, the EU parliament has passed amendments to EUDR legislation that not only delay implementation but also remove books and other products in commodity code 49xxx from the scope of EUDR. On 18th December the EU council ratified that vote, meaning it will pass into law in second half of December
- This means that books, journals and other products such as calendars that sit within 49xxxx will no longer be subject to EUDR requirements, and so supply into the EU will be able to continue as it does now
- It should be noted that certain products – diaries (except heavily illustrated) and notebooks, amongst others – sit with commodity code 48xxx and so will be subject to EUDR when it comes in on the delayed date of 30 December 2026. These products will still need to show they are deforestation free, and PODW still expect to be able to do so when that time comes. However, if you are unclear as to whether your product will fall in or out of scope, please get in touch with the team
